  • 5 c. white/whole wheat flour
  • 1½ t. baking powder
  • 1 t. baking soda
  • 1 t. salt
  • 5 T. sugar
  • ¼ c. warm water (90-110 degrees F)
  • ½ oz. (2 pkg.) active dry yeast
  • 1 c. (2 sticks) salted butter, melted
  • 2 c. buttermilk, cold
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees
  2. In a large bowl whisk together the dry ingredients with only 3 T. of sugar.
  3. In a small bowl mix the warm water, yeast, and remaining 2 T. of sugar and let set for about 2-3 minutes or until foamy looking
  4. Make a well in the center of your dry mixture
  5. Pour in the yeast mixture and buttermilk
  6. Pour in the melted butter
  7. Gently fold dry into wet ingredients
  8. Keep mixing until ball forms
  9. Then gently knead about 12-15 times to create a smooth dough
  10. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour
  11. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and roll out until the thickness is about 1-1½ inches thick.
  12. Fold the dough in half, press to 1-1½ inches again and repeat one more time.
  13. Now grab your cutter and start cutting out the biscuits
  14. Place in a buttered dish
  15. Brish with more butter and bake!
