Author:
Ingredients
  • Apple Pie Filling of your choice
  • ⅔ c. flour
  • ⅔ c. brown sugar
  • ⅔ c. oatmeal
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 stick of butter, softened
  • Your favorite caramel sauce (
  • I love Mrs. Richardson's Brand)
Instructions
  1. Place filling of your choice in a greased 8x8 pan.
  2. Mix the flour, sugar, salt, and oatmeal together.
  3. Using pastry blender if you have one, or a fork, work in the butter until you have a course crumb mixture. This is really important that you mix the butter in good until you don't have much of any powder mixture left. You want pea size pieces of crumb. In order go get the crumb crunchy topping this step is very important-otherwise you will be left with a powder topping which is not what we want at all!
  4. Next, cover the apples with your crumb mixture.
  5. Take a butter knife and swirl it through your pan making a "S" shape
  6. (I love this tip as it gets the crumb deep into the mixture so you just don't have it on top)
  7. Then pop it into a 350 degree oven for about 45 minutes to an hour until the top is golden brown.
  8. Remove from oven and immediately drizzle with your favorite caramel sauce.
  9. Serve warm and Enjoy!
  10. Chef Notes: I also almost always double the crumb topping mixture as I love lots of crumb topping.
